About Dr Hamizah Razlan

Biographical Sketch:

Dr Hamizah started her practice at KPJ Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital in January 2016, and is the only female gastroenterologist in our hospital. She was an Associate Professor and Consultant Gastroenterologist at the National University of Malaysia where she worked for many years. She was the Head of Gastroenterology Unit there and was involved in research, teaching and clinical care.

Dr Hamizah graduated from the University of Glasgow in 1997 and later pursued her Masters of Medicine (Internal Medicine) in University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).She became a Lecturer in Medicine in 2004 in UKM Medical Centre and continued her subspecialty training in– Gastroenterology and Hepatology. She underwent her training in Selayang Hospital and also in University Malaya Medical Centre. She later became an Associate Professor in Medicine and Gastroenterology in 2009.
 



Education and Fellowship:

Dr Hamizah’s has accumulated vast experience in Gastroenterology and her interest is in managing chronic viral hepatitis (Hepatitis B and C) and fatty liver as well as diagnostic upper and lower endoscopy and in particular colorectal cancer screening. 

Dr. Hamizah is currently a member of the Academy of Medicine, Malaysia; committee member of the Malaysian Society of Gastroenterology and Hepatology (MSGH) and reviewer for the Malaysian Medical Journal.
